Five more children died from measles and suspected measles across Bangladesh in the past 24 hours, while 969 new infections were reported, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said on Sunday.
According to a DGHS statement, one of the five deaths was confirmed as measles, while the remaining four were classified as suspected measles cases.
Of the 969 newly reported cases, 90 were laboratory-confirmed and 879 were suspected infections.
Since March 15, Bangladesh has recorded 109,899 suspected measles cases, including 13,326 laboratory-confirmed infections. During the same period, 92,831 patients have been admitted to hospitals, while 89,234 have been discharged.
The nationwide death toll from measles and suspected measles since March 15 has reached 758 children, including 94 confirmed measles deaths and 664 suspected measles deaths, according to the DGHS.
Dhaka division has recorded the highest number of measles cases and deaths, followed by Rajshahi, Chattogram, Khulna, Barishal, Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions.
