Two more people have died from dengue in Bangladesh over the past 24 hours, taking the death toll this year to 27, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The latest victims were both women. One was from the Dhaka South City Corporation area, while the other was from outside the Chattogram City Corporation in Chattogram division. One was aged between 26 and 30, and the other between 31 and 35.
The DGHS disclosed the information in its regular dengue update issued on Monday through the Health Emergency Operation Center and Control Room.
During the same period, 327 new dengue patients were admitted to hospitals across the country, including 297 to government hospitals and 30 to private hospitals and clinics.
From January 1 to July 13, a total of 8,650 dengue patients have been hospitalised nationwide. Of them, 7,800 have recovered and been discharged.
According to the DGHS, 823 dengue patients are currently receiving treatment at government and private hospitals across the country.
