Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has taken responsibility for the medical treatment of conjoined twin girls Zainab and Umme Kulsum, who are currently undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).
The twins were born to a financially struggling family in Daulatpur, Kushtia.
Their parents had been facing uncertainty over how to cover the cost of their treatment.
After the matter was brought to the attention of the local administration through media reports, the district and upazila administrations contacted the Ministry of Health.
Following the Prime Minister’s directive, the twins were brought to Dhaka for treatment.
Health Minister Sardar Md. Sakhawat Husain also visited the twins at DMCH and said the government would bear all expenses related to their treatment.
