Drive against illegal gas connections in Narsingdi

A joint operation by the district administration and Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company Limited has led to the disconnection of illegal gas connections in Narsingdi’s Basail and Gorashal areas.

During the drive, mobile courts fined offenders a total of Tk 2.30 lakh across seven cases. In Basail, authorities imposed Tk 1.10 lakh in fines in three cases under the Bangladesh Gas Act, 2010.

A similar amount was fined in another three cases in Gorashal. Additionally, Tk 10,000 was fined in one case under the Consumers’ Rights Protection Act, 2009.

The drive was led by Assistant Commissioner and Executive Magistrate Nepal Kanti Dev.

District administration officials said such drives targeting illegal gas use, wastage and unauthorized connections will continue to ensure proper energy management and legal compliance.
