The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court on Thursday deferred the hearing on the appeal in the high-profile murder case of former lawmaker and Awami League leader Ahsanullah Master until after July.
The apex court rescheduled the hearing as the case could not be taken up during lastday’s proceedings.
The matter is now expected to be heard after the current month’s court schedule.
The appeal concerns the killing of Ahsanullah Master, a former Member of Parliament from Gazipur and a prominent political figure, who was shot during a public rally in Tongi on May 7, 2004.
He later succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.
The case has remained one of the country’s most significant political assassination cases and has gone through multiple stages of judicial proceedings over the past two decades.
Lawyers involved in the case said the Appellate Division is expected to resume the hearing after July as part of its regular cause list schedule.
Further details regarding the next date of hearing are expected to be announced by the Supreme Court in due course.
