A Chattogram court on Sunday placed listed criminal Mobarak Hossain Emon, widely known as David Emon, along with three of his associates, on a 10-day remand in connection with murder and arms cases filed with Fatikchhari Police Station.
Senior Judicial Magistrate-3 Motasim Billah passed the order after police produced the four accused before the court, seeking a total of 14 days’ remand—seven days in each of the two cases.
After hearing both sides, the court granted five days’ remand in each case, bringing the total to 10 days.
The other accused are Md Shamim, Safayet Hossain, and Al Islam Alif, also known as Tamal.
Earlier, on Thursday, another Chattogram court had sent David Emon and his three associates to jail after showing them arrested in three separate cases.
David Emon was arrested in a joint operation in Jashore in the early hours of July 29 while allegedly attempting to flee to India.
The accused were brought before the court under tight security, with additional police deployed in and around the premises during the hearing.
According to case documents, police recovered firearms from Fatikchhari on July 29 based on information obtained from Emon and his associates after their arrest.
Police said Emon, 25, son of the late Md Musa of Kanchannagar in Fatikchhari upazila, is facing at least 13 cases, including charges of murder and illegal arms possession.
Additional Superintendent of Police (Hathazari Circle) Kazi Md Tareq Aziz said the accused would be interrogated further to gather details about their criminal network and recover additional illegal weapons.
Investigators traced Emon’s whereabouts while probing the murder of Maksudul Haque Chowdhury in Pahartali on June 13, according to multiple police sources.
Based on information provided by the suspects, law enforcers later conducted a raid at an abandoned house in Manikpur village under Kanchannagar union in Fatikchhari, recovering a foreign pistol, two locally made LG guns, and several other improvised weapons.
