The High Court has accepted an application for the final hearing of a rule issued in a writ petition seeking compensation for the families of those killed and the victims injured in the Bangladesh Air Force training jet crash at Milestone School and College in Dhaka’s Uttara.
The matter is scheduled to be heard on Monday (August 3) by a High Court bench comprising Justice Fahmida Quader and Justice Md. Asif Hasan.
The petitioner’s lawyer, Anisur Rahman Raihan, confirmed the development.
The writ petition seeks an order directing the government to pay Tk 50 million (Tk 5 crore) in compensation to each of the families of the 36 people killed in the crash and Tk 10 million (Tk 1 crore) to each injured victim. It also requests that the state bear the full cost of medical treatment for all those injured in the incident.
The tragic accident occurred on July 21, 2025, when a Bangladesh Air Force training fighter jet crashed into the campus of Milestone School and College in Diabari, Uttara.
A total of 36 people were killed, including 28 students. The aircraft’s pilot, Flight Lieutenant Md. Toukir Islam, also lost his life in the crash. Many of those injured continue to suffer from the physical and psychological effects of the accident and have yet to fully recover, even more than a year after the devastating incident.
