The government has sent 49 police inspectors into compulsory retirement, citing public interest.

The Home Ministry announced the decision in an order issued on Thursday, which was published on its website on Friday.

According to the order, the officials were sent into retirement after completing 25 years of service.

The decision was made under Section 45 of the Government Service Act, 2018, which allows the government to retire a public servant compulsorily after they have completed 25 years in service if it considers such action necessary in the public interest.

Under the provision, the government can retire an employee without requiring them to show cause.
