RAB-2 has arrested Chua Selim, identified by the elite force as a major drug dealer operating in Geneva Camp in Dhaka’s Mohammadpur area.
A RAB team arrested him early Thursday (20 August) in a raid on a hideout inside the densely populated camp. The operation was led by RAB-2 CPS Company Commander Hasan Muhtarem.
RAB-2 Commanding Officer Additional DIG Naimul Hasan said Selim had been using the hideout to evade law enforcement.
“Given the dense population and challenging environment of Geneva Camp, carrying out the operation was difficult. We adopted a special strategy to apprehend him,” he said.
According to RAB, Selim is among the prominent drug dealers in Geneva Camp. Several cases have been filed against him with Mohammadpur Police Station, including murder and drug-related charges.
RAB-2 said it has recently stepped up operations in Mohammadpur and Adabar targeting armed criminals, extortionists, snatchers, juvenile gang members and drug dealers.
The arrest comes as part of the force’s ongoing efforts to curb criminal activities in the two areas.
