The High Court is set to deliver its verdict on Monday (August 24) on the death references, appeals and jail appeals in the widely discussed murder case of madrasa student Nusrat Jahan Rafi in Feni.
A special High Court bench comprising Justice Bhishmadev Chakraborty and Justice K M Rasheduzzaman Raja will pronounce the verdict.
The hearing on the appeals and death references concluded on August 20, after which the court fixed August 24 for the verdict.
Nusrat, a student of Sonagazi Islamia Fazil (Degree) Madrasa, was set on fire on April 6, 2019, after she filed a sexual harassment complaint against the madrasa’s then principal, Siraj-ud-Daula.
She died at the burn unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital on April 10.
On October 24, 2019, a Feni tribunal sentenced all 16 accused to death and fined each Tk 100,000 in the murder case.
The convicts later appealed to the High Court.
