Justice Debasish Roy Chowdhury has been appointed a permanent judge of the High Court Division, nearly two years after being appointed as an additional judge.
The Law and Justice Division issued a gazette notification on Monday, saying the appointment was made by President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir in consultation with the Chief Justice under Article 95 of the Constitution.
The appointment will take effect from the date he takes oath.
Born on March 1, 1981, Justice Chowdhury completed his LLB (Hons) at the University of Wolverhampton in the UK. He also obtained a Postgraduate Diploma from the College of Law of England and Wales and certificates in law from Holborn College.
He was enrolled as a district court advocate in 2005, a High Court advocate in 2007 and an Appellate Division advocate in 2018.
He joined the High Court bench as an additional judge on October 8, 2024.
