Police have detained another 379 people in an anti-teen gang operation in Cumilla.
The district-wide operation was conducted simultaneously at 18 police stations from 7pm to midnight on Tuesday, September 29.
Additional Superintendent of Police Mohammad Lutfur Rahman confirmed the matter.
He said the operation was conducted by various units of the district police and the Detective Branch (DB), with the police superintendent directly participating.
Areas in the city and across the district known for the activities of unruly teenagers were brought under the operation.
Police are verifying information on the involvement of the 379 detainees in criminal activities. Necessary legal action will be taken after the verification process, the official said.
Those found not to be involved with teen gangs will be handed over to their families after signing bonds, he added.
The police official said anti-teen gang drives were being conducted regularly to prevent adolescents from becoming involved in criminal activities.
He also said strict measures were being taken to ensure that no innocent person was harassed during the operations.
