Police have filed a case against four named individuals and 23 unidentified people over a fire at TupTup Resort in Patuartek, Inani, Ukhiya, Cox’s Bazar, that killed 10 tourists.
Resort manager Mohammad Sumon has been arrested, while police are conducting raids to arrest the other accused, including resort owner Tanvir Ahmed.
Ukhiya Police Station Officer-in-Charge Atikur Rahman Majumder confirmed the case on Sunday morning.

He said Tanvir Ahmed and Sumon were among the four named accused but declined to disclose the identities of the other two, citing the investigation.
Police are continuing operations to arrest the remaining suspects.

Police said Sumon was detained at the scene on Saturday afternoon and later taken to the police station. He has since been shown arrested in the case.

The fire broke out around 7am on Saturday at TupTup Resort, located near Patuartek beach along the Marine Drive. The cause of the fire has not yet been established.

Police said the recovered bodies were being kept at the morgue of Cox’s Bazar District Sadar Hospital. Their identities and handover to relatives will be decided after DNA tests, the OC said.

Mohammad Abul Kalam Azad, special superintendent of police at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Cox’s Bazar, said arrangements would be made to collect DNA samples at different hospitals in the district. If necessary, a specialist CID team would be brought from Dhaka to conduct the tests locally.
