SC to close for half-day over Jamir Uddin Sircar’s death

The Supreme Court’s both divisions will remain closed for the second half of the day in honour of the late Barrister Jamir Uddin Sircar, former Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad, former acting president, and senior advocate of the Supreme Court.

The Appellate Division’s Chamber Judge Court will also remain closed on Sunday.

The announcement was made in a notice signed by Mohammad Shafiqul Islam, Public Relations Officer of the Supreme Court, on Sunday (July 12).

According to the notice, the decision was taken as a mark of respect following the death of Barrister Jamir Uddin Sircar.

Consequently, proceedings in both the Appellate and High Court Divisions will remain suspended during the second half of the day, while the Chamber Judge Court of the Appellate Division will remain closed throughout the day.
