Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested a total of 2,314 individuals during a month-long special drive conducted across the capital in June as part of its efforts to maintain law and order and enhance public safety.

According to a DMP press release issued today, the special operations were carried out by various units of the metropolitan police from June 1 to June 30 across different areas of Dhaka.

Of the total arrests, 71 individuals were wanted in various criminal cases, while 797 were apprehended on charges related to offences such as terrorism, robbery, mugging and dacoity.

In addition, 1,446 people were arrested for their alleged involvement in drug trafficking and other narcotics-related crimes.

The DMP said the special drives were conducted to strengthen public security, prevent criminal activities and maintain a stable law-and-order situation in the capital.

The metropolitan police authorities said such operations would continue in the coming days as part of their ongoing efforts to ensure public safety and uphold law and order.

Legal proceedings against the arrested individuals are currently underway.
