In a sweeping 24-hour operation across the capital, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police arrested 460 individuals and filed 49 cases, officials said on Monday.
According to a statement from the Police’s Media and Public Relations Division, the operation targeted multiple police station areas, leading to arrests linked to drug-related offences and other crimes.
The highest number of arrests was recorded in the Mirpur Division with 126 detainees, followed by Tejgaon (62), Wari (57), Motijheel (56), Uttara (47), Ramna (39), Gulshan (34) and Lalbagh (33). Additionally, six individuals were arrested by the detective unit.
During the operation, law enforcement officials seized 12,084 yaba tablets, 120 grams of cannabis, 100 bottles of Eskaf syrup and Tk 4,800 in cash.
Police said legal proceedings against those arrested are currently underway as part of ongoing efforts to curb crime and drug trafficking in the capital.
