The current government has reinstated the registration of Bangla Edition, which had been temporarily cancelled during the tenure of the interim government. As a result, the online news portal has once again been officially allowed to resume its news operations.
The matter was confirmed in a notification issued by the Department of Information on Sunday, announcing the restoration of the portal’s registration.
The interim government had cancelled Bangla Edition’s registration on December 22, 2025. The authorities of Bangla Edition subsequently applied to the relevant authorities for the restoration of its registration. Following that application, the government decided to reinstate the registration.
Earlier, on July 16, 2025, Bangla Edition officially began its journey, declaring its commitment to the spirit of the July Movement. The inauguration ceremony, held at a five-star hotel in Dhaka, was attended by leaders of various political parties, including the BNP, Jamaat-e-Islami and LDP, as well as government officials, former military officers, businesspeople, journalists, members of law enforcement agencies, families of the July martyrs and people from different walks of life.
From the outset, Bangla Edition said it would focus on preserving the memories and ideals of the July Movement, highlighting issues related to Islam and the Muslim world, advocating for the rights of oppressed people and taking a stand against injustice and repression.
The portal also pledged to publish reports against foreign aggression while giving importance to politics, society, international affairs and issues affecting ordinary people.
However, only a few months after its launch, Bangla Edition faced a major setback when its registration was temporarily cancelled by the then interim government.
With the current government’s decision to restore its registration, Bangla Edition has once again received the opportunity to operate officially as a news outlet. Source Jugantor.
