Canada deported or removed 227 Bangladeshi nationals during the first six months of 2026, from January to June, according to updated statistics from the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA).
According to CBSA data, a total of 10,607 foreign nationals from different countries were removed from Canada during the six-month period.
Bangladesh ranked seventh on the list, with 227 nationals removed. The country is also among the top 10 countries whose nationals are currently subject to removal proceedings in Canada, with 968 Bangladeshis on the list.
India topped the list during the first half of the year, with 3,323 of its nationals removed from Canada. This was the first time since 2020 that India overtook Mexico to rank first. Mexico ranked second, with 1,573 nationals removed.
The list was followed by Haiti with 431, the United States with 372, Colombia with 354, Romania with 293, Bangladesh with 227, Pakistan with 207, Nigeria with 205 and Chile with 190.
An analysis of previous years’ data shows that Canada removed 308 Bangladeshi nationals in 2020. Bangladesh did not appear among the top 10 countries from 2021 to 2025.
Meanwhile, the number of Indian nationals removed from Canada has increased significantly each year. The figures were 603 in 2021, 786 in 2022, 1,132 in 2023, 2,004 in 2024 and 3,779 in 2025.
People are generally removed from Canada for violating immigration rules, having their asylum or refugee claims rejected, overstaying their visas, or committing immigration or visa fraud.
Although the CBSA maintains records of the reasons for removal, it does not publish country-specific reasons separately.
