No explanation: BD cabin crew held by UAE CID

Dhaka: A cabin crew member of Biman Bangladesh Airlines, Mirza Adnan, has been held by the United Arab Emirates’ Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for the past five days while on official duty. However, no formal explanation has yet been provided regarding the allegations or the reasons behind his detention.

According to available information, Mirza Adnan was detained by immigration authorities at Sharjah International Airport on July 22 after operating Biman Bangladesh Airlines Flight BG-151. He was later transferred to the Abu Dhabi CID for further investigation and questioning. Neither the UAE authorities nor Biman Bangladesh Airlines has officially disclosed the reason for his detention or provided any update on the progress of the investigation.

Repeated attempts to contact Biman Bangladesh Airlines’ Managing Director and Public Relations Officer for comment were unsuccessful.

Adnan’s wife, Anisa Mirza, expressed deep concern over the situation.

“My husband left for duty on July 22. It has been five days, and we still have no information about him. No official from Biman has contacted us or informed us about his current condition. We are living in extreme anxiety and uncertainty,” she said.
