The government has reinstated the licence of Ad-din Medical College Hospital in Moghbazar, allowing it to resume operations under three conditions, about one and a half months after its suspension following the deaths of six newborns.
A notification issued on Monday by the Health Services Division, signed by Secretary Md Quamruzzaman Chowdhury, withdrew the earlier order that had revoked the hospital’s licence.
According to the conditions, the hospital must comply with the Medical Practice and Private Clinics and Laboratories (Regulation) Ordinance, 1982, complete the recruitment of duty doctors and nurses as per licence requirements as quickly as possible, and strictly adhere to all other regulatory conditions.
The notification warned that legal action could be taken at any time if the hospital fails to meet these requirements.
On June 11, authorities cancelled the hospital’s licence after six newborns died in its postnatal ward within three hours on May 27, allegedly due to negligence.
