The government has placed 32 officials of the rank of Joint Secretary, including former deputy commissioners (DCs) who served as returning officers during the 2018 11th National Parliamentary Election, into compulsory retirement.
The Ministry of Public Administration issued separate notifications in this regard on Monday.
According to the notifications, the officials have completed 25 years of service and the government has considered it necessary, in the public interest, to retire them from government service.
The compulsory retirements were made under Section 45 of the Government Service Act, 2018.
The notifications also said the officials will be entitled to all retirement benefits in accordance with the existing rules.
Earlier, on July 5, the government compulsorily retired 33 officials who had served as Superintendents of Police (SPs) during the 2018 general election. Those officials, belonging to the 20th BCS batch, had also completed 25 years of service.
The interim government had previously retired 22 former Deputy Commissioners who were on duty during the controversial 2014 general election.
