Eight-year-old found dead by rail track in Faridpur

An eight-year-old girl was found dead beside a railway track in Faridpur’s Nagarkanda upazila on Saturday night, prompting police to detain three people for questioning.

The deceased, Mahmuda, was the daughter of Idris Molla of Tarakandi village.

According to police, the child left her home around 5:00 pm and went missing shortly afterward. When she did not return, her family, along with local residents, began searching for her.

Her body was discovered beside the railway tracks in Tarakandi village around 9:00 pm.

Police recovered the body and sent it to Faridpur Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.

Officer-in-Charge Rasul Samdani Azad of Nagarkanda Police Station said the body bore serious head injuries, raising suspicions of foul play.

Law enforcers have detained three individuals for interrogation in connection with the incident.

Further legal action will be taken based on the autopsy report and findings from the ongoing investigation, the OC added.
