A Biman Bangladesh Airlines passenger flight from Toronto to Dhaka made an emergency landing at Rome’s Fiumicino Airport in Italy on Friday after developing a mechanical problem.
The aircraft, carrying around 250 passengers, remained grounded at the airport for at least six hours following the landing.
A Biman public relations official said the aircraft was grounded after an initial technical inspection following the landing. Engineers began examining the aircraft to identify and resolve the problem.
The airline is working to arrange alternative flights, accommodation and meals for the stranded passengers, the official said.
