Dhaka: A low-pressure system has formed over the southwest Bay of Bengal and the adjoining coast of northern Odisha. Under its influence, light to moderate rain or thundershowers, accompanied by gusty winds, may occur in various parts of Bangladesh, according to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department. Some areas may also experience moderate to heavy rainfall.
The forecast was issued by the Meteorological Department and remains valid until 6pm on Sunday (August 9).
According to the bulletin signed by meteorologist Dr. Muhammad Abul Kalam Mallik, by 6pm Sunday, many areas of Rangpur, Mymensingh, Khulna, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions, as well as some areas of Rajshahi, Dhaka and Barishal divisions, may experience temporary gusty winds with rain or thundershowers.
During this period, daytime temperatures across the country may fall slightly, while nighttime temperatures are expected to remain nearly unchanged.
For the following 24 hours from 6pm Sunday, rain or thundershowers accompanied by gusty winds are expected to continue in many areas of Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Khulna, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions, and in some areas of Dhaka and Barishal divisions.
Moderate to heavy rainfall may occur in some parts of the country during this period as well.
However, the Meteorological Department said that both daytime and nighttime temperatures may rise slightly across the country during the next 24 hours.
