A fire broke out at Ashiq Tower in Khaja Market in the capital’s Chawkbazar area on Saturday, with six units of the Fire Service and Civil Defence deployed to contain the blaze.
The Fire Service received the first report of the fire at 1:34 pm. Two units from Lalbagh Fire Station arrived at the scene at 1:46 pm and immediately began firefighting operations.
The blaze originated in a shop on the third floor of the five-storey building. To strengthen the response, four additional units from Siddique Bazar Fire Station were dispatched to the scene.
Fire Service and Civil Defence media officer Anwarul Islam Dolon confirmed the incident.
