Storm signal no. 3 remains at four ports

The maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to keep the No. 3 local cautionary signal hoisted as squally weather is expected to affect the North Bay and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh.

According to a special bulletin from the Bangladesh Meteorological Department, a well-marked low over Jharkhand and adjoining areas has weakened into a low-pressure system and is currently positioned over southeastern Jharkhand and nearby areas. The system is likely to move further west-northwest and gradually weaken.

The bulletin said a steep pressure gradient persists over the North Bay and adjoining areas.

Under its influence, squally weather may affect the maritime ports, the North Bay and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh.

All fishing boats and trawlers operating in the North Bay have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution until further notice.
