Romania is expected to recruit up to 90,000 foreign workers in 2026, creating new employment opportunities for job seekers from Bangladesh and other countries seeking legal work in Europe.
The demand is expected to be strongest in sectors such as courier and delivery services, cargo handling, construction, and commercial and administrative work, according to information highlighted in a recent video on Romania’s foreign worker recruitment process.
Among the largest employment categories, more than 26,000 vacancies are expected for courier and delivery workers, followed by around 21,000 cargo handlers and 18,000 construction workers. The country is also expected to require thousands of commercial and administrative employees.
Romanian authorities have launched a new online portal, Work in Romania, to help manage work and visa-related applications.
Foreign workers are generally categorised as either highly qualified professionals, who are not subject to the regular recruitment quota, or general labour workers, whose recruitment falls within the annual quota.
The minimum monthly wage in Romania has reportedly been set at the equivalent of around Tk 120,000 from July 1, 2026, although earnings may be higher depending on a worker’s qualifications, skills and employment sector.
Applicants urged to follow official channels
Prospective workers have been strongly advised to avoid middlemen, fraudulent brokers and unofficial recruitment agents. In Bangladesh, applicants can seek assistance through the government-run Bangladesh Overseas Employment and Services Limited (BOESL) and verify job demand letters through the Bangladesh Embassy in Romania.
Applicants should also be cautious about recruitment costs. The total expenses, including airfare, may remain below Tk 100,000 when official and legitimate channels are used, depending on individual circumstances and employer arrangements.
A key piece of advice for workers is not to pay any recruitment money before receiving and verifying a valid work permit. They should carefully examine employment contracts, employer details, salary conditions and the authenticity of recruitment documents before making any payment.
Warning against illegal movement
Workers have also been warned against leaving their Romanian employers and attempting to move illegally to other European countries after arrival. Such actions can lead to serious legal and financial consequences.
Under reported employment arrangements, some employers are required to provide substantial financial guarantees for recruiting foreign workers. Workers who abscond may therefore face legal action or other penalties, while illegal migration can also jeopardise their future employment and immigration prospects.
For Bangladeshis seeking employment in Romania, experts stress that the safest route is to use official channels, obtain a genuine job offer and work permit, verify all documents, and avoid paying money to unverified individuals or agencies.
In short, Romania may offer significant employment opportunities in 2026, but workers are being urged to prioritise legal migration, document verification and official recruitment channels to avoid fraud and exploitation.
