A low-pressure system has formed over the Bay of Bengal, prompting authorities to hoist local warning signal No. 3 at all four of Bangladesh’s seaports.
The Bangladesh Meteorological Department issued the warning on Saturday (August 29).
According to the latest weather bulletin, the low-pressure area has formed over the northwestern Bay of Bengal and adjoining coastal areas of West Bengal and northern Odisha.
The system is likely to move west-northwestward, the bulletin said.
Under its influence, gusty winds may sweep across the seaports, the northern Bay of Bengal and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh.
As a result, Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra seaports have been advised to display local warning signal No. 3.
Fishing boats and trawlers operating in the northern Bay of Bengal have also been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution until further notice.
