The first committee meeting under the Makkah Defence Pact, signed by Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan, is set to be held in Istanbul, Turkey, according to the Turkish Foreign Ministry.
The meeting will bring together the three countries’ foreign and defence ministers, along with their military chiefs, according to Saudi broadcaster Al Arabiya.
Key discussions will focus on the international security situation, regional stability and deeper cooperation in the defence industry, including military and defence technology collaboration.
Signed earlier this month, the Makkah Defence Pact provides a new framework for defence cooperation among the three countries, covering joint security initiatives, military coordination and closer collaboration in defence technology and industry.
The Istanbul meeting is being viewed as the first major step toward implementing the pact and strengthening strategic security cooperation among Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan.
