Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) will install decorative poles along major roads under its jurisdiction to improve lighting, enhance the city’s appearance and make streets more convenient for pedestrians, said DNCC Administrator Md Shafiqul Islam Khan.
He made the remarks on Monday (31 August) while inaugurating decorative poles equipped with smart lights at the Khamarbari Gol Chattar area of Manik Mia Avenue in the capital.
The DNCC administrator said there were instructions to make Dhaka brighter and more modern, prompting the city corporation to undertake the project.
“The city corporation will be responsible not only for implementing the project but also for its maintenance,” he said, urging city residents and all concerned to cooperate with the initiative.
He said the administration was gradually moving towards fulfilling its election pledges.
“Together, we will work to transform the city into a modern, clean, odour-free and liveable place,” Shafiqul Islam Khan said.
