Six more children died with suspected measles symptoms across Bangladesh in the past 24 hours, while 1,256 children were reported with measles or measles-like symptoms, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
In its latest update issued Monday (31 August), the DGHS said none of the six deaths was confirmed to have been caused by measles.
Since 15 March, a total of 874 children have died with suspected measles symptoms, while 99 confirmed measles deaths have been recorded. The combined death toll from confirmed measles and suspected cases now stands at 973.
During the latest 24-hour period, 94 children tested positive for measles, while 1,162 were reported with measles-like symptoms. Another 1,090 children were hospitalised, while 1,112 were discharged.
Since 15 March, the country has recorded 157,991 suspected measles cases and 19,312 confirmed cases, DGHS data showed.
A total of 138,445 patients have been hospitalised during the period, with 133,404 subsequently discharged.
