The Customs, Excise and VAT Commissionerate, Dhaka (West), has uncovered an alleged Tk3.76 crore revenue evasion by online apparel retailer J-Creation, the National Board of Revenue (NBR) said Tuesday.
Acting on a tip-off, a team conducted a surprise raid at the company’s office in Mirpur on September 13 on the instructions of the commissioner.
J-Creation sells panjabis, sherwanis and various ready-made garments through online platforms.
During the raid, officials found evidence of VAT evasion and seized the company’s CPU and other documents using VAT Form 12.3 for further examination.
After reviewing the seized documents and sales records, officials initially estimated the revenue evasion at around Tk3.76 crore, according to the NBR.
The seized records are now being examined further. Legal proceedings, including the possibility of filing a case against the company over the alleged evasion, are underway.
