The Ministry of Land has ordered the installation of biometric digital attendance devices at all upazila land offices and union land offices across Bangladesh to strengthen transparency and accountability in land services.

The ministry has sent letters to all deputy commissioners, instructing them to ensure that biometric attendance devices are installed at the relevant offices immediately and that all officials and employees use the system regularly.

The directive was issued by the Field Administration-2 branch of the Ministry of Land on September 14.

The ministry said the government has taken various initiatives to introduce e-governance to ensure transparency, accountability and a better working environment in public offices.

It said regular and timely attendance of officials and employees at their workplaces is essential to make land administration more efficient, transparent and accountable and to ensure that people receive land services smoothly and on time.
