Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Detective Branch (DB) has arrested two alleged counterfeit currency dealers with fake notes worth Tk 35 lakh in the capital’s Jatrabari area.
The arrests were made during a special operation conducted by a DB Wari Division team on Saturday night, police said.
The detainees were identified as Md Rubel Hawlader, 36, and Selina Akter alias Nasima, 58.
DMP Deputy Commissioner (Media and Public Relations) Md Akter Hossain confirmed the arrests on Sunday.
Acting on a tip-off, a DB team conducted a raid in Kajlarpar under Jatrabari Police Station and arrested the duo.
Police recovered 3,902 counterfeit notes with a face value of Tk 35 lakh from their possession.

A case has been filed against them under the Special Powers Act, 1974, with Jatrabari Police Station.
The two suspects have been sent to court.
