Father’s body recovered 4 days after trawler sinks

The body of Helal Uddin was recovered four days after a trawler sank in the Meghna River in Sonargaon, bringing the total number of victims from his family to four.

Helal’s body was recovered floating in the Marikhali River, a branch of the Meghna, near Ratanpur Bridge around noon on Monday. Fire Service personnel from Sonargaon and police from the Baidyerbazar river outpost later handed over the body to his family after identification.

Helal’s body was recovered floating in the Marikhali River, a branch of the Meghna, near Ratanpur Bridge around noon on Monday.

Fire Service personnel from Sonargaon and police from the Baidyerbazar river outpost later handed over the body to his family after identification.

Inspector Shah Kamal, in-charge of the Baidyerbazar river police outpost, said the bodies of all four missing people from the trawler accident had been recovered and handed over to their families.

Earlier on Saturday morning, the bodies of Helal’s three children—Sajib, Samia and Samin—were recovered from the Meghna River near the Al Mostafa Factory in the Baidyerbazar area.

The trawler sank in rough weather near Sonamayi on Thursday afternoon. The body of another victim, Raisha Begum, was also recovered from the accident site.

With Helal’s body recovered, the rescue operation has been concluded.
