A fire broke out at Matrix Garments, a garment factory in the Degerchala area of Gazipur city, on Saturday afternoon.
Nine units of the Fire Service and Civil Defence are working to bring the blaze under control. No casualties have been reported so far.
The fire started around 3pm on the third floor of the factory’s eight-storey building, according to firefighters and witnesses.
Three units from the Gazipur Chowrasta Modern Fire Station initially responded to the incident after being alerted by the factory authorities.
As the fire intensified, one unit from the Konabari Fire Station, three from the Gazipur Fire Station and two from the Rajendrapur Fire Station joined the operation.
Md Hiron Mia of the Gazipur Chowrasta Modern Fire Station said nine units were currently working to control the fire.
“The cause of the fire is not yet known, and no casualties have been reported so far. The fire has not yet been brought under control,” he said.
