Three more people have died with measles-like symptoms across Bangladesh in the past 24 hours, while 1,349 new suspected and confirmed cases were reported, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The figures were released in the DGHS’s regular measles report on Friday, October 9.
Of the three deaths reported during the period, one each occurred in Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions.
Since March 15, a total of 1,147 people have died from measles and measles-like symptoms nationwide. Of them, 104 deaths were confirmed as measles, while 1,043 were suspected deaths, the report said.
The DGHS recorded 1,268 new suspected cases in the past 24 hours, bringing the cumulative number of suspected infections to 202,893 since March 15.
Another 81 cases were confirmed during the same period, taking the total number of confirmed measles cases to 22,197.
According to the DGHS, 180,079 people have been admitted to hospitals with suspected measles since March 15. Of them, 172,705 have recovered and been discharged.
