Saudi authorities have directed offices in Riyadh’s 99-storey Kingdom Centre to operate remotely until further notice amid escalating attacks by Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi group.
The work-from-home order took effect on Sunday. In an email to tenants, the building’s management asked them not to report to their offices during the specified period. The shopping mall at the base of the skyscraper remains open.
Meanwhile, the United States has warned its citizens about possible Houthi attacks on airports across Saudi Arabia, urging them to exercise extreme caution when travelling by air following missile and drone attacks on Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport.
In a security alert issued on Saturday, the US mission in Saudi Arabia warned of potential airport attacks, airspace closures, flight cancellations and other travel disruptions.
According to the US mission, operations at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh remain suspended.
King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah and King Fahd International Airport in Dammam remain operational, although some flights at both airports continue to face delays and cancellations.
The US mission advised Americans planning to travel through Saudi airports to check flight status directly with airlines and airport authorities before setting out.
Travellers were also urged to prepare for possible further attacks and sudden changes to flight schedules or airspace availability.
The mission further called on US citizens to follow national emergency alerts issued by Saudi Arabia’s Civil Defence authorities through mobile phone notifications.
