2 killed as ambulance crashes into bus in Pabna

Two people were killed after an ambulance carrying a body collided head-on with a passenger bus in Pabna’s Ataikula area on Thursday morning.

The accident occurred around 6:00 am in the Saradangi area along the Dhaka–Pabna highway.

The deceased were identified as Bulu Khatun, a relative accompanying the body, and the ambulance driver, Raj Sheikh (30), son of Jamal Sheikh of North Shalgaria in Pabna municipality. Several other passengers were also injured in the crash.

Confirming the incident, Madhpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mahbubur Rahman said the ambulance was returning to Santhia in Pabna from Rajshahi Medical College Hospital with the body of Bulu Khatun’s daughter when it collided head-on with a Pabna Express passenger bus coming from the opposite direction.

The bodies of the two victims, along with the deceased being transported in the ambulance, were recovered and sent to the Pabna General Hospital morgue.

Police said the injured are receiving treatment, while the damaged ambulance and bus have been seized and taken to the police station for further investigation.
