The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has issued a show-cause notice to Member of Parliament Fakhr Uddin Ahmed Bacchu, accusing him of violating party discipline and engaging in various unethical activities.
The notice, signed by BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on Saturday, directs Bacchu to submit a written explanation within 48 hours regarding the allegations.
Bacchu, the MP for Mymensingh-11 (Bhaluka), had previously been expelled from the party on September 1, 2024, following allegations of involvement in controversial activities after the student-led mass uprising of 2024, including the alleged takeover of industrial establishments and extortion in Bhaluka.
According to the BNP’s latest notice, Bacchu later expressed regret for his actions and applied for reinstatement. Based on the party’s decision, his expulsion was revoked and his primary membership was restored on October 24, 2025.
However, the party now alleges that Bacchu and his close associates have once again violated party discipline and engaged in unethical activities. The notice asks why organizational action should not be taken against him and instructs him to submit a written response to the party’s central office in Naya Paltan within the stipulated 48-hour period.
No immediate response from MP Fakhr Uddin Ahmed Bacchu was available following the issuance of the notice.
Bacchu currently serves as the Joint Convener of the Mymensingh South District BNP and the Convener of the Bhaluka Upazila BNP. When he was expelled two years ago, he denied allegations of involvement in the takeover of industrial establishments in Bhaluka.
