Bangladesh is set to launch an ambitious nationwide reality show aimed at discovering hidden talent from grassroots communities, as the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting introduces “Search for Talent” (Protibhar Shondhane).
Going beyond traditional singing, dancing, or comedy-based formats, the show will offer a single platform for a wide range of talents—from folk traditions such as stick fighting, puppet shows, and bahurupi, to acrobatics, magic, robotics, drone displays, sand art, and technology-driven innovations.
The year-long programme will feature 52 episodes, each running 45 to 60 minutes, and will be aired simultaneously on Bangladesh Television and OTT platforms to ensure broad national and international reach.
According to officials, the competition will begin with digital registration and online auditions, allowing participants to apply from home. This will be followed by audition camps across all eight divisions, leading to studio rounds, knockout stages, semifinals, and a grand finale. Winners will be selected through a combination of judges’ scores and public voting.
A panel of three renowned figures from the country’s music, dance, and acting industries will serve as judges, while two popular hosts will present the show, including behind-the-scenes segments that highlight contestants’ personal journeys and struggles.
To enhance viewer engagement, the show will introduce interactive features such as a “Red Button”, enabling judges to stop performances they find unsatisfactory, and a “Golden Button”, which allows exceptional performers to advance directly to later rounds. Public voting will also play a decisive role in selecting the final winner.
Inspired by global formats like Britain’s Got Talent, the production will incorporate premium set design, advanced lighting, and cinematic storytelling to meet international standards.
The Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (FDC) will organise the show. Managing Director Masuma Rahman Tani said the initiative aims to bring forward untapped talent from every corner of the country, providing a long-overdue platform for recognition.
“Our goal is clear—to ensure that individuals with extraordinary abilities, whether in traditional arts or modern innovation, no longer remain unseen due to a lack of opportunity,” she said.
State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Yasser Khan Chowdhury said the initiative reflects the government’s commitment to nurturing young talent and creating inclusive opportunities. “This platform will not only entertain but also empower talent across the country, helping individuals achieve recognition and self-reliance,” he added.
The ministry hopes the show will help revive fading cultural traditions, support emerging innovators, and open new doors for talented individuals who have long remained outside the spotlight.
