The Bangladesh Coast Guard (BCG) has seized 30 kilograms of illegally hunted deer meat and detained a trader during an operation in the Sundarbans.
The recovered was made on Monday noon around 2:00 pm in the Nolian area of Dacope upazila by a special team from the Nolian Coast Guard Outpost, according to Coast Guard Headquarters Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Sabbir Alam Sujon.
Acting on a tip-off, the team conducted a raid in the Closure Para area under Nolian and detained Mehedi Hasan, 30, while he was transporting the illegal venison.
The seized meat, estimated to be worth around Tk 66,000, was confiscated, and the detainee was taken into custody.
Later, both the detained individual and the recovered venison were handed over to the Nolian Forest Patrol Outpost for further legal action.
