Senior journalist Syed Golam Batul Kazim Reza passed away today at the Super Specialized Hospital of Bangladesh Medical University in Dhaka. Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un.
He breathed his last at around 3:30pm while undergoing treatment for various complications. He was 69.
He is survived by three daughters, as well as relatives, friends and well-wishers. Earlier on August 7, he lost his wife Sufia Begum.
Kazim Reza, a member of the National Press Club, worked for various newspapers and news agencies, including Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS), Dainik Desh, Dainik Millat and The New Nation, in different capacities.
He also served as assistant secretary general of the Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) and office secretary of the Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ).
Leaders of the journalists’ community, including Jatiya Press Club President Hasan Hafiz, General Secretary Ayub Bhuiya, BFUJ President Oabidur Rahman Shahin, Secretary General Kader Gani Chowdhury, DUJ President Md Shahidul Islam and General Secretary Khurshid Alam, expressed deep sorrow over the death of Kazim Reza and prayed for the eternal peace of his departed soul.
His Namaz-e-Janaza will be held after Maghrib prayers in front of the National Press Club. He will later be buried at his village home in Delduar Upazila of Tangail.
