Opposition Leader Dr Shafiqur Rahman has expressed anger over remarks made by Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed in Parliament, saying he did not come to Parliament to become the minister’s student.
“If he wants to be a teacher, he can open a new university. Those who wish can enrol there,” Dr Shafiqur Rahman said on Thursday, the opening day of the third session of the 13th Parliament.
Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed was in the chair.
Dr Shafiqur Rahman alleged that the home minister repeatedly makes disparaging remarks about the opposition in Parliament.
Earlier, responding to a question from Cumilla-4 MP Hasnat Abdullah, Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed said he could not understand whether the MP’s remarks constituted a question or a speech at Paltan.
The minister also questioned the basis of statistics cited by the MP regarding killings, injuries and the law-and-order situation.
