Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is scheduled to visit Rangpur, Rajshahi and Chattogram on Tuesday to visit Durga Puja mandaps and exchange greetings with members of the Hindu community on the occasion of Sharadiya Durga Puja.

Additional Press Secretary to the Prime Minister Atikur Rahman Rumon confirmed the visit on Monday, saying the prime minister would visit the three cities in succession, starting with Rangpur in the morning.

The prime minister is scheduled to leave Tejgaon Airport in Dhaka by military aircraft at 9:00am and travel to Saidpur Airport before proceeding to Rangpur.

In Rangpur, he is expected to visit a Durga Puja mandap at the Dharmasabha Temple, also known as the Radha Gobinda Temple, and exchange greetings with devotees.

He will then travel to Rajshahi, where he is scheduled to visit the Rajshahi Dharmasabha Temple at 1:30pm.

He will also attend a public rally at the historic Madrasa Ground in the city at 3:00pm.

Later, the prime minister will fly to Chattogram and visit the Durga Puja mandap at JM Sen Hall in Rahmatganj in the evening.

He is expected to return to Dhaka by air at night after completing his engagements.

According to the prime minister’s additional press secretary, this will be the first time a head of government in Bangladesh visits Durga Puja mandaps outside the capital during the Hindu community’s biggest religious festival.

The visits come as devotees across the country celebrate Sharadiya Durga Puja.
