Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has pledged to build a better Bangladesh that meets people’s aspirations, with the participation of people from all religious communities.
Addressing a roadside rally in Paglapir, Rangpur, on Tuesday, the prime minister said people of all faiths had worked together to secure the country’s independence and should now unite to advance national development.
He said the people had entrusted the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) with the responsibility of governing the country following the election held on October 12. Since assuming office, the government had been working to stand beside working people and introduce initiatives based on the needs of different sections of society.
Tarique Rahman said the government had waived agricultural loans of up to Tk 10,000 for farmers. It had also introduced family cards and farmer cards, while allowances had been arranged for imams, muezzins and other respected members of society.
The prime minister said the government would continue its efforts to support working people from all walks of life and take initiatives to improve public welfare.
Referring to the ongoing Durga Puja celebrations, he described the festival as an important occasion for members of the Hindu community in Bangladesh.
He stressed the importance of unity, mutual cooperation and peaceful coexistence among people of different faiths.
“Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists and Christians—all are citizens of this country. Bangladesh belongs to everyone,” he said.
He added that responsibility for the country’s development and future rested with all citizens, regardless of their religious identity.
Recalling the contribution of people from different religious backgrounds to the Liberation War, the prime minister called for a similar spirit of unity in building the country.
He urged citizens to work together, emphasising that collective effort and mutual cooperation were essential to achieving national development and fulfilling people’s aspirations.
Tarique Rahman reiterated his commitment to building a Bangladesh where people of all faiths could participate in shaping the country’s future.
He called on everyone to make the development of an inclusive and prosperous nation a shared commitment.
