Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has alleged that one group is providing money from across the border while another is attempting to create instability within Bangladesh.

Speaking at a public rally at Madrasa Ground in Rajshahi on Tuesday afternoon, October 20, the prime minister said the two groups had joined forces to disrupt the country’s stability and development.

He alleged that the ousted authoritarian regime was supplying funds from abroad to people working to create unrest in Bangladesh.

He also accused a political group of spreading misinformation and attempting to mislead voters ahead of the election.

Tarique Rahman urged the public to remain alert and prevent any attempt to create disorder or obstruct the country’s economic progress.

He said the government was working to restore stability, improve security, reopen closed factories and encourage domestic and foreign investment to create jobs.

The prime minister also criticised groups allegedly organising street protests that disrupt public life, saying such activities could hinder the government’s development initiatives.

He called on nationalist and democratic forces to remain united to protect the country’s progress.

At the rally, Tarique Rahman also highlighted government initiatives, including reopening closed industrial units, providing agricultural support to farmers, expanding healthcare facilities and digging canals to address water shortages.

He reiterated plans to construct barrages on the Padma and Teesta rivers to help address water-related problems and secure Bangladesh’s fair share of river water.

The allegations were made during the prime minister’s address at the Rajshahi rally, according to local media reports.
