Constitution amendment committee holds first meeting today

The parliamentary special committee formed to recommend amendments to Bangladesh’s Constitution is set to hold its first meeting today (Tuesday) at the Cabinet Room of the Jatiya Sangsad complex in Dhaka.

The meeting, scheduled for 12:00 pm, will be chaired by committee chief and Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed.

Members are expected to outline the committee’s working procedures, formulate a roadmap, and discuss the process for preparing recommendations on constitutional reforms.

The 12-member committee has been tasked with preparing recommendations for necessary constitutional amendments and submitting its report to parliament.

During its work, the committee is expected to consult constitutional experts, legal professionals, editors, and other stakeholders before finalizing its proposals.
