Abhijeet Dipke, founder of the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP), has warned of a second phase of protests at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar.
Dipke alleged that the party had been unable to secure a venue for a volunteer meeting in Delhi on Wednesday due to “pressure from above.”
He said the development had prompted the party to consider returning to Jantar Mantar for another round of protests.
Speaking to the media, Dipke said, “Many people on Instagram are asking when Jantar Mantar Season 2 is coming. I want to tell them that Jantar Mantar Season 2 is coming very soon.”
Referring to the planned meeting, he said, “We had planned a meeting of our volunteers in Delhi today. We were looking for a hall, but nobody was willing to rent one to us. Everyone said they were facing pressure from above.”
He claimed that after they finally found a venue, its owners were allegedly threatened and told they would face serious consequences if they allowed the CJP meeting to take place.
Dipke alleged that the entire episode was “a BJP-scripted drama” and accused the ruling party of being afraid of the country’s youth.
“If they think we will be scared by such petty tactics, they are making a serious mistake,” he said.
The CJP previously held a major protest at Jantar Mantar, drawing hundreds of young supporters.
