Four newly appointed ministers and two state ministers have been assigned portfolios, while the portfolio of another minister has also been changed.

The new ministers and state ministers took oath at Bangabhaban on Friday evening, with newly elected President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir administering the oath. Fakhrul himself took oath as president first before administering the oath to the new members of the Cabinet.

The four new ministers are Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan, Rashiduzzaman Millat, Saching Prue Jerry and Andaleeve Rahman Partha. Millat was previously serving as state minister for civil aviation and tourism.

The two new state ministers are Humayun Kabir, a technocrat, and Mohammad Shamim Kaisar, popularly known as Lincoln.

According to a senior Cabinet Division official, Abdul Moyeen Khan has been given charge of the Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Ministry, filling the vacancy created after Fakhrul became President.

Rashiduzzaman Millat, who was elevated from state minister to minister, has been made Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism. The ministry’s previous minister, Afroza Khanam Rita, has been shifted to the Ministry of Food.

Bandarban lawmaker Sachin Prue Jerry has been appointed as Minister for Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs.

Dipen Dewan had initially been given charge of the ministry after the BNP government assumed office, but he resigned three months later. State Minister Mir Mohammad Helal Uddin has since been serving in the ministry.
